Just wondering if anyone has tried Hodgdon's Lil' Gun for 357 Magnum. I've reloaded some and did it according to the recipe at Hodgdon's website and it seems like those loads might be too hot. They have way more kick that even factory loads or anything else I've tried. I didn't notice anything abnormal with the brass or the primers after shooting.

17 Grains of Lil' Gun over a Hornady 185GR XTP/HP with a Winchester SPM Primer with Starline Brass and Starline Nickle. No primer, or extraction problems. No sigh of any overload. Just kicked like a mule compared to ANYTHING else I've loaded in that Caliber. What I mean is the ONLY difference was the Powder used. All else being the same for the reload.

hodgdon website lists 180 grain bullet should be 15gr lil gun max. where are you getting your load data from? i would back off on that charge. as the bullet weight increases the powder charge decreases

Damned Number Dyslexia. 158 Grain JHP. Which according to the website at Hodgdon is 18Gr MAX. And I was ONLY loading 17 MAX. Sorry about the typo on the previous message. I'm gonna try calling them today. Sent a couple of E-Mails but even on their website it says they might not reply to them, and to call if they don't reply. But it seems as if it has too much kick if you ask me.

Got a hold of Hodgdon today. They assured me that the load data was correct. They said it was the higher velocity was the cause of the noticeable kick. So I guess I am safe doing it the way I have.

Thanks for responding Snipe.
